São Paulo leads in nights booked by Millennials, with Rio de Janeiro being the second most popular destination among them globally
How are young people creating and exploring new spaces for the community to gather and celebrate Pride Month? A new survey finds a growing trend among Gen Z and Millennial travelers who are shaping Pride celebrations globally.
Gen Z travelers’ top destinations for Pride weekends on Airbnb reflect their unique preferences and adventurous spirit. Based on more than 60 events around the world, Generation Z has shown interest in a variety of destinations, some traditional and others emerging. Millennials continue to book destinations traditionally known for Pride celebrations, while maintaining a strong presence in family-friendly locations. In contrast, Gen Z is exploring both newer and established celebration destinations, showing a spirit of discovery and innovation.
In Brazil, there is an interesting distinction in travel preferences between generations. Although Generation Z shows greater interest in Rio de Janeiro compared to São Paulo, the capital of São Paulo has the highest percentage of nights booked on Airbnb by Millennials. Even so, Rio de Janeiro remains the second most popular destination among Brazilian Millennials, demonstrating the city’s importance in the scene of Pride celebrations.
In addition to analyzing the most booked destinations, Airbnb also highlighted cities that are celebrated for their friendly and welcoming environments for the LGBTQ+ community, based on the number of positive mentions in guest reviews. The most welcoming cities include:
