Documentary premiering in June highlights how families overcame prejudice to support LGBTQIA+ children
The documentary explores everything from the discovery of children’s sexuality or gender identity to the process of deconstructing parents’ prejudices, culminating in family members’ active support for the LGBTQIA+ cause. Gabriel Vital, journalist from Rio Preto and director of the film, highlights: “I hope that other fathers and mothers who are currently experiencing this process of understanding and deconstruction find support in these testimonies and understand that the most important thing is to allow love to overcome prejudice” .
Co-signed by journalist Júlia de Britto, who conducted part of the interviews, the production lasts around 40 minutes and was carried out with resources from the Paulo Gustavo Law, through the notice of the first audiovisual work from the Municipal Secretariat of Culture of Rio Preto, with support of the Ministry of Culture.
The premiere will take place on June 24th, at 7:30 pm, at Casa de Cultura Dinorath do Valle, with a free session. Due to limited places, it is necessary to register via the website: bit.ly/reconstrucaodoamor.
