Council linked to Seciju will promote actions and guidelines for the inclusion and equality of LGBTQIA+ people
The State Council for the Rights of LGBTQIA+ People (CELGBTQIA+) will be linked to the Secretariat of Citizenship and Justice (Seciju) and will act in a collegiate manner, with a consultative and deliberative nature. Its main purpose is to collaborate in the formulation and implementation of government actions and measures for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Among the Council’s responsibilities are collaboration in the development of criteria, parameters and strategies to evaluate and monitor government actions that ensure equality, equity and fundamental rights for LGBTQIA+ people. The Council will also propose strategies to monitor government actions, monitor the preparation and execution of the State’s budget proposal and promote studies, debates, lectures and research on rights and inclusion. Furthermore, it will support campaigns to promote and defend rights and public policies.
CELGBTQIA+ will be composed of members and substitutes, representatives of the State Government and civil society. The members will be nominated by the respective directors of the bodies and entities listed below and designated by act issued by the secretary of Seciju.
