Baldwin faces involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with the 2021 death of cinematographer Galina Hutchins.
Alec Baldwin in the making of the film Irzha revolver played. The Guardian reported this.
In new court documents, prosecutors said they plan to present new evidence to support their case that the 66-year-old actor and producer recklessly used a weapon while filming on set and displayed a “volatile and aggressive behavior” that posed a potential threat.
Specifically, in the killing of cameraman Galina Hutchins, they say she fired a blank cartridge at a crew member on set, using that crew member as a phantom target.
Law enforcement also claims that before entering the frame, Baldwin asked for the “largest” gun and used it “as a pointer to direct crew members,” keeping his finger on the trigger when certain scenes did not need it. They also plan to present evidence that the actor forced the film’s gunsmith to reload his weapon faster, interrupted weapons training and was “distracted by texting, talking to family members and taking videos.”
Baldwin himself has repeatedly tried to reduce the charges, refused to accept a plea deal, and even tried to reduce his possible punishment by saying that he “didn’t have to follow the safety recommendations given of on-set safety experts.” If the court finds the artist guilty, he faces 1.5 years in prison.
Alec Baldwin’s second trial will take place on July 10 in Santa Fe, USA.
Earlier it was reported that Alec Baldwin’s lawyers asked the judge to dismiss the charges against him for the involuntary manslaughter of Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins.
