The vocal and artistic capacity that swallows prejudices

A striking and in-tune vocal timbre, an exuberant look with long, blonde curly hair, perfect and very well cared for nails. This is the first impression of anyone who comes across videos or photos of Christian singer Whell Monteiro, 33 years old from Ceará, married, non-binary who currently lives in São Paulo – the capital, and shares his daily routine as an LGBT+ inclusive artist.

And in one of his recent posts Whell brought up the various phrases and questions filled with pure juice of prejudice that he received when promoting his newest musical album “Diário”. “The feminine and masculine universes have been with me in my routine since a very early age, I love moving between both universes and I don’t see any problem with that”, comments Whell.

The attacks and questions made against the artist do not need to be transcribed here in any way, as he posted a video on his Instagram denouncing each sentence full of misinformation. For him there is no problem with being called by both male and female pronouns, he makes people feel comfortable about this as he declares himself as a non-binary gay man. Recent events in the singer’s life only show how people urgently need information on the issue of gender identification.

And Whell Monteiro is a beautiful example of this, a gay boy who can easily be seen on the streets or even in his stories on the social network; in shorts and a t-shirt, as well as beautiful long dresses, pompous golden necklaces and hoop earrings; all of this is common in their performances or music videos.

Recognition
The representativeness that his appearance and high voice brings have attracted more and more fans of his work, as listeners to his songs on the music streamer Spotify have increased more and more. Not to mention the invitations that have appeared in demand for presentations and ministrations in churches; so much so that the artist has already designed his next project for the second semester: the live recording of a DVD with original songs.

“Each message of affection and recognition for my musical work drives me more and more to continue being who I am! I feel increasingly motivated to be a reference for my LGBT community.”

When asked what message he would leave for the readers of this publication, he was emphatic when he said: “Go scared, but go!” Well, it really seems that the singer doesn’t know this word, as we can see that with a lot of courage and talent he has broken barriers not only musically but also in terms of acceptance. A real artist is like that!
