New work represents a journey of resistance and creativity, marking the end of an instrumental trilogy
“We are closing a very important conceptual cycle of our work. This is the last record of an instrumental trilogy that forged our aesthetic. We focus on grooves and energetic grooves, with strong influences from funk and soul music, powerful brass sections, sonic flavors from different places and cultures, flutes and other ethnic instruments. Everything was designed and produced to create our so-called ‘soundscapes’, taking listeners and fans on that classic journey without leaving the place. , celebrating everything we have delivered so far and already looking to the future, paving the way for our new phase”, explained the band.
Released by New York label Nublu Records, “Terceiro Mundo” will be available in digital and vinyl formats. This album continues the band’s fundamental repertoires: “Nomade Orquestra” (2014) and “Entremundos” (2017), adding to “Vox Populi Vol I” and “Vox Machina Vol I” from 2019, and “Nomade Orquestra Na Land of Springs” (2022).
“The choice of title also refers to the geopolitical term itself, in which third worldism is present in our experiences: Brazil, São Paulo, ABC. We face reality and all the challenges imposed on us in a hopeful way. We fully believe that music and art are necessary expressions for a mentally blocked society. Our journey is an ode to the sensorial and the powerful invisible that permeates our lives. We perform with excellence, even in the face of difficulties. In all aspects of this launch we use “rudimentary” technologies. The song was constructed almost like a collage. The recording was done “live”, with all the musicians playing together. This album is a cultural melting pot, a mishmash of experiences that creates a unique identity in the context of Brazilian instrumental music”, highlighted the band.
The album’s tracks explore diverse themes and influences: “EntreMundos” symbolizes the transition from the second album to this new chapter; “The Rise of the Invincible Sun” expresses faith in tomorrow; “Peixeira Amolada & Quebra-Queixo” explores third world stereotypes; “Foreign City” delves into the cultural diversity of São Paulo; “The Extraordinary Present” is a breath of freedom and hope; “Mariposa Tigre” combines funk and reggae influences; “Invasão de Pindorama” reflects the cultural miscegenation of Brazil; and “Coconut Revolution” is inspired by the world’s first ecological revolt, which took place in Papua New Guinea.
The album is a complete experience for lovers of music, cinema and arts in general, connecting with icons such as Khruangbin, Yussef Dayes, Curtis Mayfield, Arthur Verocai, John Coltrane, Moacir Santos, Hermeto Pascoal, Ennio Morricone, Max Roach, Skatalites, Melba Liston, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Letieres Leite.
