The 7th Trans Pride March was held in São Paulo on Friday, May 31, bringing together activists from all over Brazil, amplifying powerful speeches and parading tolerance, respect and calls for an end to transphobia. The location chosen for the gathering was the historic Largo do Arouche, with a route along Avenida São João and Praça da República.
From Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, councilor Benny Briolly (PSol) attended the March to remember that the unity of the movement goes beyond borders. She highlighted that her mandate continues to combat fundamentalism and reinforced her willingness to fight for a better future:
Also a councilor, but in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Gilvan Masferrer shared her political trajectory and encouraged the public to never give up dreaming of better prospects. She recalled that, today, she sits in the same chair as those who once wanted her out of the City Council:
The March left Largo do Arouche led by the beauty and ancestry of the Afro block Ilú Obá de Min, making music, representing History and delighting the curious eyes of those who followed the walk through the center of São Paulo. Beautiful to see.
