Now in its third edition, the objective is to serve transvestites and trans people in situations of social and economic vulnerability, facilitating the issuance of certificates required by law and guaranteeing exemption from fees.
Registration can be done via an online form (Click here) or in person at the LGBT+ Reference Center, a municipal service that works in the network to protect the rights and citizenship of the LGBT+ population in Fortaleza. To register in person, you must present the following documents:
RG
CPF
Proof of residence
Voter ID
Birth certificate
The delivery of the new birth certificate with corrected name and gender will take place on June 25th, in person, in celebration of LGBT+ Pride Day.
“The third Transforma is a very important action by the General Public Defender of the State of Ceará in favor of restoring citizenship for trans and non-binary people in Fortaleza and Ceará. This partnership adds to the countless actions, projects and programs that the Special Coordination of Sexual Diversity has been implementing to transform the lives of these people who suffer so much prejudice and discrimination due to their sexual orientation and gender identity”, says Andrea Rossati, special coordinator of sexual diversity in Fortaleza.
The law
Six years ago, according to Provision No. 73, of 2018, of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), changing first name and gender can be done directly at the Civil Registry Office. The Ombudsman’s Office assists people in situations of social and economic vulnerability in issuing the certificates required by law and exempting fees.By Ezatamentchy
