Competition in the city of Juiz de Fora in Minas Gerais is intertwined with Brazilian LGBT+ History itself
The Official Miss Brazil Gay is confirmed for August 17, 2024, in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, with the theme “Let our shine surround you”. As the event approaches, the organizers have already announced some new features for the 42nd edition: the main change is the location of the event, which will be at the Ginásio Poliesportivo Jornalista Antônio Marco, after years of being held in private and smaller spaces.
The event organizers revealed that ticket sales will begin on June 1st, although prices have not yet been released.
The change aims to make the event more accessible and allow more people from Juiz de Fora to participate. Therefore, the event will start and end earlier than in previous editions, lasting just 3 hours. One of the confirmed attractions is funk singer MC Carol.
The artistic director and national coordinator of the event, André Pavam, highlights that the change of location will change the dynamics of the event. “The big attraction this year is Miss Brasil Gay himself and the shows he offers. We will have a very strong, truly stellar cast. Communication with the public will be much greater. It’s a show aimed at the public and the stands,” he explains.
For the second year in a row, the 27 candidates will also be evaluated on their oratory skills, ensuring that the Miss elected is a spokesperson for the LGBT+ community.
To make the show more dynamic, the competition had some changes to the rules: starting this year, the judges will choose the best traditional and formal costumes only by voting, without evaluation by score. Furthermore, the misses will not wear capes that hide their clothing.
