In the European Union, the total number of new passenger car registrations in April was 913,995 units. The share of petrol and diesel vehicles continues to decline. It was reported by Ukravtoprom in reference to ACEA data.
Compared to last year, the April market for new passenger cars in the European Union grew by 13.7%.
This is thanks to strong growth in all the main EU markets: Spain (+23.1%), Germany (+19.8%), France (+10.9%) and Italy (+7.7%).
Cars with gasoline engines remain the most popular in the EU. They captured 36% of April’s market for new passenger cars. However, this is two percent less than in the past.
At the same time, the share of hybrids increased from 25% to 29%. 13% of consumers gave preference to diesel cars, compared to 14.7% previously. And the share of electric cars remained almost unchanged – 12%.
In the first four months of 2024, the market for new passenger cars in the EU grew by 6.6%, reaching almost 3.7 million units.
We remind you that in April the Ukrainian car fleet was filled with more than 4,200 electric cars, which is twice as much as in April last year.
