The wait of more than two years for the lesbian film “Am I Ok?” is finally over. to be released: June 6th, on Max. The film stars Dakota Johnson as Lucy, a 32-year-old girl without much direction in life whose world is shaken when she realizes that she is a lesbian, at the same time that her best friend from long-time friend, Jane (Sonoya Mizuno), announces that she is moving to London in search of a job opportunity.
The script is about Lucy’s journey entering the queer dating pool for the first time, while also feeling practically ancient in terms of coming out, as there is an exploration of Lucy and Jane’s platonic friendship.

“Am I Okay?” premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Warner Bros. and HBO Max shortly after. The film is by writer Lauren Pomerantz, who based the story on her own late-life revelation and relationship with her best friend.
It was directed by his wife’s directing team, Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne, and also starred Kiersy Clemons, Molly Gordon, Jermaine Fowler and Sean Hayes.
