Cia. Estupenda Trupe inaugurates the pioneering LGBTQIA+ Theater Festival in the Federal District, designed to boost the regional theater scene, promote the creation of direct and indirect jobs, and highlight the talents of the LGBT+ community, seeking to select works, performances and paintings by artists locations. The activities are scheduled for July 19th to 21st, at Sesc Newton Rossi in Ceilândia.
Registration, available free of charge, can be made until May 15th via the website www.estupenda.net. The submitted works must address LGBT themes or feature professionals from the community occupying key roles in the production. Proposals with ethnic representation, including black or indigenous people, will also be welcome.
The selection will include two shows, four paintings and two performances, without a competitive nature. Each chosen show will receive a fee of R$6,000, while the paintings and performances will be remunerated, respectively, with R$1,500 and R$1,000.
These amounts aim to cover expenses such as transporting materials, moving scenery and staff to the theater, in addition to copyright fees.
In addition to the presentations, the festival will offer workshops on the trans presence in theater and dramaturgy, as well as two discussion panels. The first debate will address cultural policies for the LGBTQIA+ community, while the second will discuss the construction of LGBTQIA+ narratives.
