The residents of Baltimore are ready to be revealed. There were almost 3,000 people signed up for the auditions, an intense week of tests at the iconic Teatro Imprensa, a lot of conversation between the show’s artistic directors to reach a consensus and finally the cast of the Brazilian version of Hairspray has been chosen.
In addition to Tiago Abravanel, who will play Edna Turnblad, mother of the main character, those chosen to stage the show, in alphabetical order, are: Aline Cunha, as Motormouth Maybelle; Emmy Oliveira, playing Little Inez; Giovana Zotti, as Prudy Pingleton; Ivan Parente, in the role of Corny Collins; Liane Maya, as Velma Von Tussle; Lindsay Paulino, as Wilbur Turnblad; Pâmela Rossini, as Penny Pingleton; Rodrigo Garcia, as Link Larkin; Thales Cesar, as Seaweed Stubbs; Vânia Canto, as Tracy Turnblad and Verônica Goeldi, as Amber Von Tussle.
Carol Pita, Yasmin Calbo and Julia Sanchis are part of the Ensemble and will also be available as a cover by Amber and Penny, respectively, as well as Eddy Norole. The same will happen with Manu Gioieli (Tracy cover), Douglas Motta and Vitor Veiga (Seaweed covers), Teo Brito (Link cover), Alvinho de Pádua (2 Link cover), Pedro Navarro (Corny cover) and Bernardo Berro (Edna cover) .
The actors who have the great job of acting as “swing” during the show are Claudia Rosa (Velma and Prudy cover), Nicole Luz (also Pequena Inez cover), André Luiz Odin (also Wilbur and Corny cover) and Tiago Dias (Seaweed cover). The three Diamonds are played by Thais Ribeiro, Larissa Noel and Carol Roberto.
