He noted that we need to work harder to popularize Ukrainian opinion and Ukrainian cuisine in the world.
Ukrainian chef and restaurateur Evgeniy Klopotenko was denied permission to open a Ukrainian restaurant in Japan. This happened because of borscht, which is considered Russian there. He wrote it on Instagram.
“You live for yourself, you work, you talk about opening a Ukrainian establishment in Japan. And here you are: the Japanese do not want to open a mono establishment with borscht, because they, attention: “there is a wide opinion that Borscht is a Russian dish.” It is clear that people will pass this place on the tenth street, because the Japanese, fortunately, have been Russophobes in history,” wrote Klopotenko.
The restaurateur emphasized that the situation was “an excellent example of the depth of Russian propaganda.”
“No, this situation does not reduce the size of our efforts. It just means that we have to work harder to popularize Ukrainian thought and Ukrainian cuisine in the world. Counter-propaganda is more patient. And how good Ukrainians are with enough zeal,” concluded the chef.
Let’s remember that earlier Klopotenko was intrigued by a wedding photo near the registry office.
