Every year since 2018 until International Women’s Day on March 8, Mattel releases a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll.
Canadian singer Shania Twain was awarded her very own Barbie doll. Billboard reported it.
The Mattel doll is made in the image of the artist from the 1999 video for the song “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” in honor of her work breaking down barriers and inspiring women to achieve their dreams.
Barbie’s outfit includes Shania’s signature hat, long black coat and thigh-high boots. Underneath is a white button-down shirt and a black minidress. The doll’s appearance is also equipped with a microphone stand and lace on the hat.
The only difference between Barbie and Shania’s appearance is the hair. The doll’s long pink locks were inspired by the artist’s hairstyle from The Queen of Me tour last year.
“I take being a role model seriously because I know the impact you have on someone’s life can be negative or positive. I choose to strive for positivity. I want people to feel good and happy, even if it means it sometimes talks about difficult or unpleasant things in your life, so that others can feel that they are not alone,” the artist said.
In addition, Barbie dolls have also inspired stars Viola Davis, Helen Mirren, Kylie Minogue, German comedian and activist Enissa Amani, Brazilian content creator Mayra Gomez, Japanese model Nicole Fujita and Mexican director Lila Aviles. Mattel has developed the Mole Dolls Role series of eight toys to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the launch of the iconic dolls.
These toys are made in one copy and are not intended for sale.
