“They denied me, they told me that it was not possible for this to happen, since I was in sin”, said Suellen Carey
The trans influencer Suellen Carey surprised part of its audience last week. While Carnival was being celebrated in Brazil, she decided to follow a common ritual of the evangelical church.
“It wasn’t easy at all. I managed to get baptized as a trans woman. Everyone denied me, they told me that it wasn’t possible for that to happen, since I was in sin”, said Suellen.
It is worth mentioning that the Protestant church generally condemns homosexuality and does not agree with transsexuality. With more than 240 thousand followers on Instagram, she said that she did not want to publicize the baptism in advance on her social networks.
“If I said the location, you can be sure that the haters will start attacking the Church leaders”, explained the influencer who preferred to leave this information confidential.
A resident of London, she routinely attends Christian temples on Sundays and says she still suffers prejudice from some religious people: “The LGBTQIAPN+ community is not far from experiencing this. They offend me, but I feel like it happens less than before.”
The Brazilian also highlighted that the path may be difficult, but she is happy with the achievements in her life:
“Baptism is not about that. It’s about wanting in God and Jesus. It was a very difficult path, it took me years for this to happen in my life. When I was baptized, I was filled with even more joy in living. It’s really inexplicable”concluded.
