Let’s continue our story about the new Nissan X-Trail. Again the focus of our respect is the technical content of this supernatural crossover.
Even under the body with a stylish design of the X-Trail, which we took for a long test, there are many things that are easy to recognize. This has never happened before in the old X-Trail! We also focus on the great technology that the Nissan X-Trail represents and how it is branded as a new crossover.
Behind tradition, we first look under the hood, where the no longer essential, progressive and innovative power unit VC-Turbo with a volume of 1.5 liters has been rebuilt. Its main feature lies in the fact that this tri-cylinder engine can change its working volume – by a few inches per cubic meter. – the compression level is from 8:1 to 14:1. This effect, unprecedented in the automotive world, is achieved by changing the height of the piston lift (from 84 to 88.9 mm) to achieve TDC. This, in turn, allows the motor to switch from maximum economy mode to maximum output mode in a fraction of a second.

Are you happy? But the most amazing novelty is yet to come: this machine does not take parts directly from the wrapped wheels! The gasoline engine turns on and off the generator core, and the electric current that vibrates it is fed to the battery and electric motor (or two), which then immediately wrap around the wheels. Nissan’s e-POWER technology works this way.
Please note that the power unit, installed in the generator core, works with more “sound” mind from a technical point of view. It also controls not only the water, but also the on-board computer, which controls the flow of energy from the engine and battery. In an effort to reduce operating costs, the computer vikorist engine runs as little as necessary and with the least necessary wrappers. This fact, of course, has a positive effect on the operation of the motor.
As you can see, the new Nissan X-Trail can be better called an electric car, which does not need external power, because it actually charges itself. This is a decision in itself, and especially for our country, and it is also important to rely on stable power supply charging stations.
Because of the significant electric car controversy, there is another important feature: compared to most mainstream hybrids, this crossover does not have a gearbox such as an automatic transmission or a variator. It is a complete gearbox, like in an electric car. This is the simplest, and therefore the most reliable analogue of a transmission that you can meet.

The all-wheel drive system of the Nissan e-4FORCE is also responsible for its incredible reliability, and it also eliminates the “stuck” appearance of the cardan and clutch. The mechanical part of the system, behind the large frame, consists of the well-known gearbox and two electric motors. One of them (150 kW, 330 Nm) wraps around the front, and the other (100 kW, 195 Nm) wraps around the rear. If you transfer these parameters to more basic and reasonable parameters, it can be 213 ks and accelerates to a hundred in 7.2 seconds!
It’s an enemy, but what kind of practical sense is there for high-tech, all-wheel-drive technologies? The Nissan e-4FORCE system provides more significant benefits for driving, but we can give up, but we will follow the order.
First: e-4FORCE technology together with e-POWER guarantees a mitigation reaction in water. Zhoden DVZ in traditional cars is not made like this, no matter how many turbines there are! One ten-thousandth of a second is how much time it takes to press the accelerator pedal until the required amount of torque is applied to the front and rear. More than that – be on four wheels! The galvanic crossover system is used not only for galvanization, but also for redistributing the rotational moment between the right and left wheels. It is clear that it is useful to worry about the unknown stability of the exchange rate.
Another: clearer galvanization of the energy recovery process. When the accelerator is released, the complaints of the e-4FORCE’s electric motors are actually converted into a generator. It causes damage to the lungs, but not very noticeable “beak”, which you can notice if you take your foot off the gas pedal in regular crossovers or in silent ones, where the electric motor is only moving forward.
Third: a more variable distribution of rotational moment between anterior and posterior parts. Basic mechanical all-wheel drive systems can direct the entire rear from 0 to 50% of traction, like the e-4FORCE system – from 0 to 100%! But, again, do not replace the driveshaft and buy “locking” gears, because mechanical interference can interfere with their productivity. In practice, this means that the overall performance of the Nissan X-Trail with e-4FORCE will always be as effective as possible, whether it is breaking down on wet surfaces or cornering at high speeds.
Now you understand why the Cheruban crossover has a lighter. We were literally blown away by the beauty of the test Nissan X-Trail. What is particularly noteworthy is the fact that you can easily switch to the most economical Eco mode and at the same time you can speed up your consumption. Nissan X-Trail has impressive dynamics, even acceleration on one road takes only 7.2 seconds, and the ability to change places is 6.5-7.5 l/100 km.
To the list of features of the test crossover, you can add a more comfortable suspension and… the ability to squint and squeeze with just one gas pedal!

Here we come to the “cherry on the cake” – the e-Pedal Step system. This technology is exclusive to most vehicles, including the Nissan range, including e-Pedal Step on the X-Trail and Qashqai.
How does this work? It’s as simple as that: you activate the system with a button on the console, and then regulate the acceleration and galvanization of the accelerator in the lowest position! They force us – we get angry, let’s go – it’s sad. The foot pedal is used only for residual noise.
The good thing is that e-Pedal Step not only simplifies the vehicle maintenance process, but also allows you to save energy. In Russian mode, the e-Pedal Step technology is designed to replace the battery charge in a short time.
Well, high technology is really really cool, but it’s also slightly hostile to the car. Therefore, in the next article about the Nissan X-Trail, we will share some important warnings about the easy alignment of this technical genius and what kind of daily service can be distinguished.
