The Duke of Sussex has been nominated for a prestigious award, but some internet users are skeptical.
Prince Harry will be unveiled as a living legend of aviation at the Kiddie Hawk Air Academy’s honors ceremony in Beverly Hills. The Daily Mail reported this.
It is noted that the 39-year-old Duke of Sussex is ahead of Charles Duke, who became the youngest person to set foot on the moon in 1972 at the age of 36.
However, it is not known whether Harry or his wife Meghan Markle will attend the ceremony, as her inclusion in the list of honorees has raised eyebrows on social media and some are confused as to why she was included.
“Is this a joke? What is so legendary that he did? I’m serious. What the hell is legendary? in this field,” netizens wrote.
The Duke of Sussex is known to have completed two tours of duty in Afghanistan as a forward air controller and Apache helicopter pilot, and has completed countless training flights in the UK, US and Australia. He served ten years in the army, rising to the rank of captain.
Thus, Prince Harry will take his place alongside other idiosyncratic aviation and aerospace legends, including Jeff Bezos, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, Elon Musk and Saudi Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud.
Other aerospace figures to be honored include US Navy pilot Fred George and former world speed record holder Steve Ginton.
“Prince Harry is a veteran humanitarian, military veteran, mental health advocate and environmentalist. He has dedicated his life to promoting causes he is passionate about that make a lasting difference to people and places,” the statement said.
It was previously reported that Prince Harry won a case of hacking into his phone to obtain information for publication in British media owned by Mirror Group Newspapers.
