Kurt Cobain’s guitar from Nirvana on his last tour has sold at auction for $1,587,500.
Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s guitar, which he used during the band’s In Utero tour, has been auctioned off at Julien’s Auctions. It fetched about $1.6 million, the auction house reports.
On his last tour, Cobain played a left-handed sky blue Fender Mustang.
“Nirvana played their last concert on March 1, 1994 in Munich, Germany, and all available recordings of the concert confirm that Cobain played this guitar that evening,” said Julien’s Auctions.

Cobain had a habit of smashing guitars on stage, but this Fender Mustang, unlike others, remained intact.
Other items of the artist were sold at auction: Levi’s jeans (almost $413 thousand), a cardigan ($13 thousand), a hand-drawn sketch and written lyrics of the song Smells Like Teen Spirit ($91 thousand).
Let’s remember that earlier in an auction in Hong Kong, a painting by French artist and founder of Cubism Pablo Picasso titled A Woman Embracing Her Own Body was sold for $24.6 million.
