The artist is in full climbing gear with ropes that will insure him if he suddenly loses his balance.
American actor and musician Jared Leto climbed the Empire State Building in honor of the start of the 30 Seconds To Mars world tour. He published the corresponding video on Instagram.
The artist is said to have become the first person in history to legally climb a skyscraper. The 51-year-old showman climbed to a height of about 400 meters and spent about 20 minutes in front. During this time, he was able to cover the distance between the 86th and 104th floors. Then he continued his ascent, passing three more tiers and very close to the “ice sheet” – the base of the famous antenna.
Jared Leto admitted that it was more difficult than he expected, adding that he injured his hand because of the sharp protrusions.
Climbing the building, the artist watched the sun rise over the city.
“It’s incredible. Watching the sun rise over the city means a lot to me. Ever since I was a kid, New York has symbolized the place where you go to make your dreams come true. When I was a kid , I want to be an artist, and New York was that place. where you go to be an artist. And the Empire State Building has always been that symbol to me,” he said.
