Britney Spears’ finances and personal life, property, all decisions and career have been controlled by her father Jamie Spears since 2008.

Singer Britney Spears shares why she agreed to a court decision to take care of her father Jamie, who ultimately controlled her life for nearly 14 years. CBS News reports this in connection with the artist’s memoirs.

According to the Grammy winner, she did it for the sake of her children Jayden and Sean Preston, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, as the star temporarily lost custody of them in 2007, after a divorce and struggle with mental health problems.

In 2008, a judge placed Spears under conservatorship and her father took control of her personal life and finances.

“Because I played by the rules, I was able to reunite with my boys,” the singer wrote in her memoir.

The performer added that the conservatorship dictates every aspect of her life, including her diet, her career and even her birth control decisions. He was not even allowed to drink coffee.

“Even though I begged the court to appoint literally someone else—and I mean preferably anyone off the street—my dad got the job,” she wrote, referring to the guardian role.

It was previously reported that Britney Spears spoke about why she shaved her head in 2007.
