Recently Mauro Souza It is Rafael Piccin they spent time in Europe and, now back in Brazil, Maurício de Sousa’s son commented on the experience of living abroad.
“We wanted to get away for a bit and have this experience of living somewhere else. We have this privilege of being able to work from afar and being able to be close to our family there too”, he commented in conversation with Who.
The couple spent two months in Portugal and what caught Mauro and Rafael’s attention the most was the fact that they didn’t receive looks on the street because they were a gay couple.
“The main point that we always make, and it is priceless, is that we can walk on the street safely. We felt safe being able to walk down the street as a couple, that was priceless. It’s something we’re going to miss, yes.”he said.
Despite the fear, Mauro stated that he and Rafael will not change the way they treat each other because of homophobia, which they themselves have faced in Brazil: “We never stop being a couple.”
“What we see everywhere is a crooked look, people pointing fingers. We know that this is the minimum within the reality of Brazil, there are people who are beaten and die. We are in a very privileged bubble”continued.
Mauro uses social media to talk about his relationship and other topics related to the LGBTQIAPN+ community: “My social network became a stage for me in the sense that I could show my art. She came with humor and criticism. I want to bring reflection.”
Mauro also commented on fatherhood and was firm in saying that he and Rafael have no plans to have children: “We don’t intend to. We are pet parents.”
