The representation was sent by deputies Erika Hilton, Pastor Henrique Vieira and Luciene Cavalcante
Last Monday, the 16th, federal deputies Erika Hilton, Pastor Henrique Vieira and Luciene Cavalcante sued the Federal Public Ministry asking for an investigation into the church Assembly of God of Rio Verde, in Goiás, alleging that the church promotes the practice of “gay cure”.
The institution was named by deputies as responsible for the “Maanaim” retreat, which offers services to “convert” young homosexuals and bisexuals to heterosexuality.
The place in question would have been frequented by the influencer Karol Ellerwho died last week at the age of 36.
The woman was close to the former president, Jair Bolsonaro, and his family. Furthermore, Karol worked in the state deputy’s office Paulo Mansur. The influencer’s death occurred a month after she announced her “conversion” to heterosexuality.
In the representation, the deputies point out that the practice is covered up by the Federal Council of Psychology and suggest that there be an action filed for the crimes of homotransphobia, psychological torture and incitement to suicide.
“The ‘gay cure’ treatments are true practices of torture and aggression against the entire LGTBQIAPN+ population, whose sexual orientation or gender designation are characteristics inherent to each subject, making it impossible to change”, said text of the representation.
The parliamentarians also state that the retreat promoted by the church also takes place in other regions of the country and ask the MPF to investigate the entity, the professionals, groups and companies that are involved in this activity.
