No budgetary funds were allocated for the film. Lubomir Levitsky’s film We Were Recruits will be released with the support of Favbet.
Director Lubomir Levitsky is preparing a film for release We are recruits, dedicated to the soldiers of the Third Separate Assault Brigade. The Ukrainian company Favbet took over the financing of the filming, the press release said.
The plot centers on a 19-year-old boy with the call sign Journalist, who decides to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to “join the decisive battle” instead of remaining “an independent person.” He became one of the recruits of the brigade and at the same time an interviewer, who, by talking to his brothers during the battle, revealed to the audience the personal stories of each of them.

The film’s patron is the Ukrainian company Favbet, which has systematically supported the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the first days of the mass invasion, providing the army with vehicles, modern drones and equipment.
“Our duty as Ukrainians is to remember those who risked their lives every day for the sake of our freedom. Lubomyr Levitsky’s film is about these people. Those who defended Kiev, liberated Kherson, and now is defeating the enemy in the east. Their names and stories are worthy for all of Ukraine to know them,” said Favbet Business Development Director Sergei Dzekunov.
This is Levitsky’s second film in the documentary genre, dedicated to an all-out war. The first is a documentary short film Follow me.
As a reminder, the previous documentary From where to where Director Maczek Hamel, who was involved in the evacuation of Ukrainians from the first days of the Russian invasion, received the main award at the Sheffield DocFest 2023 festival in the UK.
