Frontman Brandon Flowers was booed by the audience for inviting a Russian drummer on stage.
The audience was not afraid to leave the hall during the performance of the American rock band The Killers in Batumi.
Specifically, before performing one of the songs, the band’s frontman Brandon Flowers asked the fans if anyone could play the drums. When one of the fans answered, the singer brought him on stage and asked where he was from. As it turned out, the man was Russian.
Brandon Flowers asked the audience if his performance was acceptable, which was followed by cheers of disapproval. Where the artist said that he considers all fans from all countries as his brothers and that music has no borders.
Many of those gathered whistled and shouted their disapproval of these words, and some of the audience left the hall in protest. Despite this, the group played in Russian.
After this, The Killers Facebook group apologized.
“Dear people of Georgia, we didn’t mean to offend you! It’s been a long tradition of ours to invite you to play the drums, and from the stage people didn’t seem to care that today’s contestant went on stage. We realized that The appeal to the viewers and the fans of The Killers “brothers” may not be understood. But we have no intention to offend anyone, and we ask for your forgiveness. We are with you, waiting for your quick return, ” the group said in a statement.
