Buckingham Palace and King Charles III have announced new military appointments for nine members of the royal family. People reported this.
“The new appointments continue to reflect the close relationship between the Armed Forces and the Royal Family during His Majesty’s reign,” the palace said in a statement.
The future heir to the throne, Prince William, took the post of Colonel-in-Chief of the Mercian Regiment and the Army Air Corps. The King’s son, a former RAF Search and Rescue pilot, was also appointed Honorary Royal Air Commodore RAF Valley.
In turn, 41-year-old Princess Kate became Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Force, Chief Colonel of the 1st Royal Dragoon Guards and Royal Honorary Air Commodore Conningsby of the Royal Air Force.
Queen Camilla is now the patron saint of chaplains in the Royal Army. The position was previously held by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The king’s sister, the 72-year-old Princess Anne, became deputy chief colonel of the Royal Scottish Regiment, and the monarch’s younger brother, the Duke of Edinburgh, Edward became colonel-in-chief of the royal dragoon guards and hussars. His wife, Countess Sophie of Edinburgh, was appointed Colonel of his Royal Yeomanry (regiment) and Chief Colonel of the Royal Irish Regiment. He replaced Prince Andrew in this post.
Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, the Duke of Gloucester, is now Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, while his wife Birgitta is now Colonel-in-Chief.
