Mazda CX-9, the flagship of the brand’s model line, seems to have come to us from the times when there were still real kings.
That’s almost two tons of power, evenly distributed between the three rows of seats. Big, over 5 meters long, and really a roomy crossover. Largest in its class.
But he doesn’t want to exchange trivial things. This thought appears when you consider all the pleasures the car received in the restyling process. You don’t have to count for long: a new grille pattern and new wheels. That seems almost all, but… In this joke about the times of the king, there are fewer jokes than it seems. Especially if you consider all the features of this model, which, by the way, is available in Ukrainian Mazda showrooms.

The driving force behind the Mazda CX-9 is a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that attracts not only a large output of 231 hp. and a torque of 420 Nm, but also great technical solutions. Thanks to Dynamic Pressure Turbo technology, the Japanese beat turbopause without using dual boost. The reaction speed of this big car to the accelerator pedal is really surprising, because, in fact, the ability to accelerate to hundreds in eight seconds. And the appetite is quite moderate: about 12 liters in the city is not such a big price, if we consider the dynamics and weight.
The curb weight is really not small: 1960 kg. But it is not worth saving a lot on it if you want to have natural finishing materials and first-class Shumka. The interior soundproofing of the CX-9 is really impressive: close the door and find yourself in your own space, filled only with the sounds of the wonderful Bose audio system. This is an important part of the top-end Thor configuration for UAH 2,051,600 (the cost of a car produced in 2022), which we want to talk about.
All the glasses of the top-end CX-9, except, of course, the windshield and front side windows, are tinted from the factory. The roof has a large sunroof, and the side mirrors have an automatic folding system. The headlight is not only LED, but also adaptive, there is an electric drive for the tailgate.

In the cabin, you immediately notice the very nice premium quality leather used for the seat trim. By the way, this is the famous Nappa.
The seats of the first and second rows are heated, and the front ones are also ventilated. There is even a separate climate zone for rear passengers.
But the greatest attention, of course, to the driver. In front of his eyes is a large and informative instrument panel with a 7-inch TFT screen and even a color projection display that shows the most relevant information directly on the windshield. MZD Connect audio system – with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (the latter, by the way, has a wireless connection). The console also has a place for wireless charging for a smartphone.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel is heated and adjustable for depth and angle, and some elements of the center console and front doors are made of rosewood veneer.
Does this luxury have downsides? There is one, but small, literally: this is the central display. Only 9.2 inches and small resolution. However, it is still sufficient to consider the surrounding obstacles when parking, which is shown by the all-round visibility system.
This Mazda is generally well trained to help the driver interact with the environment. Thor will offer front and rear parking sensors, light and rain sensors, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, traffic sign recognition, safe braking in the city and on the highway, blind spot monitoring and much more.

Despite its large dimensions, the Mazda CX-9 is surprisingly easy to drive. The crossover clearly responds not only to the steering wheel and accelerator, but also to the brake pedal, which is very important, especially considering its weight. I want to thank the Mazda engineers for the cool suspension settings: it offers comfort that is quite inherent in this class (even with 20-wheel drive!), It does not prevent the driver from fooling around a little , if he does.
