A Moscow court sent Crimean Tatar Lenya Umerova into custody. He was accused of so-called “espionage”.

In Moscow, a court jailed Crimean Tatar Lenya Umerova on “espionage” charges. This was reported in the case card on the website of the Lefortovsky District Court on Friday, May 5.

Umerova has been in a detention center in the city of Vladikavkaz for the past five months after she crossed the border at the Upper Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia. He tried to return to the temporarily occupied Crimea to take care of his father who had cancer.

Lenia was baselessly accused of “violating the rules of the regime zone.” During this time, the 25-year-old girl was placed under administrative arrest several times for “disobedience to the police.”

According to Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets, each time his detention was extended to have time to make a criminal case.

The previous day, information emerged that FSB officers brought him to Moscow and placed him in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center on suspicion of “espionage”.

The presidential office in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea condemned the “decision” of Moscow’s Lefortovsky District Court and called for Umerova’s immediate release.

“The representative’s office condemns the” decision “of the court of the occupying country and demands the immediate release of a citizen of Ukraine, a representative of the native Crimean Tatars, Lenya Umerova,” the representative’s office said on Facebook.

The department noted that the occupiers again illegally arrested Ukrainian citizen Lenya Umerova – this time for two months on charges of alleged “espionage”. The girl did not have time to finish the previous administrative arrest, because the FSB stole her and took her to Moscow, to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center.

The mission called on international partners to respond and continue political and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation.

Let us recall that earlier in the temporarily occupied Crimea, a Russian-controlled court passed a sentence of seven years in prison in the case of Crimean Tatar Appaz Kurtamet for allegedly transferring funds to a member of the volunteer battalion Crimea.
