The actress Jade Picon already assumed: wetting is your ally to keep your hair healthy. But what is humectation anyway?
the trichologist Raquel Tavares revealed that it consists of nourishing the threads, through the application of oils, a fundamental procedure to restore shine, silkiness and malleability to the threads.
“This technique originated in India and has been used for many years. The technique restores lipid nutrients that help improve frizz, dryness and that porosity aspect. These benefits occur because, with the application of oils, the cuticles of the threads are more sealed, preserving their health for longer”explained the specialist.
In chemically treated hair or with placement, for example, humectation can be applied to the most damaged areas; for naturally oily hair, this technique is not the most indicated, but, in general, it does not increase oiliness, if done correctly, according to Raquel, from the D’Concept Salons Network.
The treatment is simple, beneficial for all hair types and, depending on the degree of hair damage, needs to be done once or twice a week.
Learn how to wet your hair, according to the expert’s tips:
1st step: do not wash your hair before wetting;
2nd step: separate the hair into strands that are neither too thin nor too thick;
3rd step: put the oil in your hands and then apply lock by lock, massaging from top to bottom.
ATTENTION: do not apply to the root of the hair;
4th step: let the oil act for at least 30 minutes, and you can use a cap. The more resected the hair is, the longer the break time can be. To carry out the night wetting, do these steps before going to sleep and leave it until the morning of the next day;
5th step: after the break, wash the hair as usual with lukewarm or cold water. Always avoid hot water. If you prefer, use a nourishing treatment line that has oils in its formulation.
To complete, Raquel mentioned which oils can be used: “I recommend those of plant origin and that are pure, such as macadamia, hazelnut, avocado or grape seed oil. There are also other product options that are easy to find and that already contain these oils in their formula, in addition to actives such as vitamin E”.
Furthermore, the expert highlighted and added: “These are the first steps for your hair to come back to life again. After all, who doesn’t want to have strands, which besides being beautiful, are healthy?
