5 nonsensical facts about Slytherin

There are some things about Slytherin, the house of evil wizards at Hogwarts, that just don’t make sense. Check out!

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is made up of four houses: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. However, it is no wonder that the main conflict is between Harry Potter, a student of Gryffindor, the house of heroes, against Lord Voldemort, a former student of Slytherin, a house that is known for having formed many of the dark wizards — in addition to of the famous rivalry between Harry and Draco Malfoy, another Slytherin.

However, some points ended up not making much sense in the plot of the house that plays an important role in the Harry Potter stories. Check some!

1. House of Evil

Slytherin is seen by many in the Wizarding World as the Hogwarts house that is home to evil wizards who have a certain tendency to go to the dark side. One of the reasons for this assumption is that, among the values of the house, there is ambition, which by many ends up being seen in a negative way.

But why would Hogwarts create a house to raise Dark wizards? Do all students who attend Slytherin necessarily have to be bad?

2. Snake Emblem

The symbol animal of Slytherin, and which is represented on the coat of arms of the house, is the snake. The choice of reptile, however, was not for nothing, since founder Salazar Slytherin had a strong connection with snakes. He even had the gift of being able to talk to these animals.

However, when we think about it, we wonder if the other founders of Hogwarts also had a connection with the animal symbols of their house, or if they just liked the idea and decided to randomly choose an animal to stamp on their coats of arms.

3. House Cup

When the wizarding universe was introduced to readers, Slytherin won the House Cup six years in a row. Things only change in Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts.

However, how did the house manage to have so many points, having an excellent classification, if almost all the teachers, in some way, are against it? Is it possible that these points only come from Snape’s classes?

4. Pansy Parkinson

Did you ever stop to think that most people believe that all Slytherin wizards are the same? A moment where we can see this is at the end of the book “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”.

The scene in question is when Lord Voldemort demands that Hogwarts hand over Harry Potter to spare the lives of the other students. Without a second thought, Pansy Parkinson asks someone to pick up Harry. Immediately, Professor McGonagall orders her and all Slytherin students to stay away from the school.

Despite the teacher trying to soften and not make the situation worse, she made it clear that all the students in the house thought the same way as Pansy, and some could be wanting to help in the battle against Voldemort

5. Crabbe and Goyle

The Slytherin values are: ambition, cunning, intelligence and determination. Thus, the students who live in this house follow one of these attributes. However, there are members who don’t quite fit that description.

Crabbe and Goyle, faithful followers of Draco Malfoy, do not have their own ambition and are often not smart enough to solve some situations. Did the Sorting Hat place them in Slytherin because they were able to see any of the house’s values, or because of their family members who attended the house during their Hogwarts years?
