The celebrity hid the illness from several family members before posting on her social media.
The famous British actress Megan Prescott admitted that in December 2021 she was diagnosed with autism. He wrote this on Instagram.
At the same time, the star added that he still does not tell some family members about the disease, because he is afraid that they will be too angry.
According to him, some people try to console, considering autism as something bad. Others downplay the importance of his diagnosis, forgetting that society has created a world for people with neurotypical brains.
“Autism is not a ‘superpower’. We live in a society built from the ground up for people with neurotypical brains. I believe that autism can be a ‘gift’ if the world we live in is made accessible by neuro-cut people. Almost all the structures, the systems and social ‘rules’ we live in are created by and for neurotypical people and don’t take into account the vast differences in how the neurodiverse work that thought,” he wrote.
So, Megan Prescott calls for more conversation about autism in women, because most of the criteria for assessing the disorder are based on studies done exclusively on men.
“In my true style, of course I will talk a lot about this; partly because I am incredibly selfish, but also because women with autism lack information and support, and I want to add my five kopecks,” summed up the star.
It was previously reported that model Bella Hadid said that she once struggled with Lyme disease for a long time.
