Easter is one of the most awaited holidays by the public and, as usual, chocolate is the most consumed product at that time. However, the consumption of this sweet is not restricted to that date, after all, Brazil, according to information from the Brazilian Association of the Chocolate, Peanut and Candy Industry (Abicab), consumes around 2.6 kilos of chocolate per year.
“The chocolate and Easter egg industry is always looking to offer consumers products of high quality and unparalleled flavor. For this, we invested in a long period of preparation, about a year and a half before the commemorative date, to meet the demands and preferences of the public. And this year was no different. Therefore, with these simple tips, the consumer will have the opportunity to enjoy Easter chocolates with all the flavor and quality that the date offers”, says Ubiracy Fonsêca, president of Abicab.
With that in mind, the association put together nine tips for preserving this product and ensuring the best flavor during and after Easter. Check out!
1. Pay attention to the labels
Product information is on the packaging, and consulting it is essential. This is because, if there is a need for specific conservation conditions, they must be indicated.
two. Maintain product temperature
It is very important that the chocolate do not suffer sudden changes in temperature during the journey between purchase and final consumption.
3. Avoid keeping chocolate in the sun
Always try to store it in the coolest part of the house, always away from where it gets sun.
4. Do not put the chocolate in the fridge
No store the chocolate in the fridge, as the product can become harder and even lose sensory characteristics.
5. Separate chocolate from other foods
Chocolates easily absorb odors from the environment. Therefore, they should not be stored next to condiments or products with a strong smell.
6. Store the product in a container
Remember, after opening the chocolate, close it very well, for example, with the help of aluminum foil or well-sealed plastic pots. this practice will protect the product fluctuations in humidity and, consequently, contact with water. Once opened, Easter eggs can also be stored in their own packaging, while bonbons, if they are not well sealed, must be kept in airtight packaging.
7. Pay attention to the place of purchase
Products must be stored properly. Temperature-controlled, well-ventilated environments are ideal.
8. Consumption of the product within the deadline stipulated
Furthermore, it should be remembered that, for safe consumption, it is essential to consume all foods within the expiry date stated on the packaging. However, even following all these recommendations, if your chocolate presents changes, we recommend that, before consumption, contact the manufacturer’s SAC in order to clarify the situation and identify the exact condition, ensuring safe consumption.
