Makeup artist explains what to do to not make a mistake when choosing shades of eyeshadow

Colored makeup is on the rise. In addition to making production more fun, it has the power to bring more life to the face and soften the serious tone of sober clothes or a monochrome look. But how to combine different eyeshadow colors?

Makeup artist Alex Cardoso teaches the secret: “Colors have three divisions. The hot ones convey a feeling of heat, and are red, orange, yellow and their variations. The cold ones indicate the opposite, and they fit blue, violet, green and their variations. And the neutral colors, which are black, white and gray, can be combined with any tone”.

Next, the makeup artist also explains how to combine the most varied tones. Look!

blue and purple

Choose one shadow liquid or cream. You can opt for a powder product, but in that case, dampen the brush before applying. Use a very thin, beveled or classic eyeliner brush, as these types help to give more definition to the line. Apply the color very close to the lash line, from the inside to the outside of the eyes, first the blue tone and, on top, the purple one. Repeat the process until you reach the desired effect.

Green and blue

Apply the green eyeshadow all over the mobile lid. In the crease and at the root of the lower eyelashes, pass the blue tone. In the inner corner of the eye, apply an illuminating shadow. “The shades of blue and green, being cold, look better on light black skin and brown eyes, which correspond to a warmer tone”, comments Alex Cardoso.

In that case, you can use the compact or creamy eyeshadow. If you choose the second, apply it with a thin wet brush or with your fingertips. Firstly, use the pink shade in the inner corner of the eye, and in the outer corner apply the purple eyeshadow, smudging it against the rose.

“This is super important so that there is no dividing line between the colors”, explains Alex Cardoso. In the crease, make a rounded design, following the natural contour. Finally, apply eyeliner to the root of the lashes.

yellow/gold and pink

On the mobile eyelid, apply a light pink tone. In the crease and at the root of the lower eyelashes, pass a darker pink tone and, above, the golden one. To give a better finish, apply black pencil on the waterline and on the eyelash root superiors. The shades of gold and pink go very well with white and slightly pink skin.

Yellow, pink and purple

Apply the pink all over the mobile eyelid. In the inner corner of the eye, apply the purple eyeshadow. Use yellow also in the inner corner, as an illuminator. That makeup stands out for combining complementary colors, such as yellow and purple, which causes contrast without compromising the harmony of the production.
