Music and culture has long been shaped by the LGBTQIA+ community: on stage, behind the scenes, and in culture at large. Committed to elevating, exalting and highlighting voices that have been historically marginalized, Spotify has launched GLOWa new global music program designed to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and promote audio equity.
For the launch of GLOW, Spotify invited 11 artists from around the world. Besides Pablo Vittar and Linkerrepresentatives from Brazil, also join the project Sam Smith, tove lo, Villano Antillano, Joesef, arlo parks, bruses, Natalia Lacunza, Jean Seizure and Leland.
GLOW will amplify LGBTQIA+ voices and stories through different initiatives, including the GLOW hub, a dedicated space on Spotify to highlight audio offerings from LGBTQIA+ voices to queer users and allies; and the GLOW global playlist, which will be updated monthly and will feature tracks from LGBTQIA+ artists. For now, it is already possible to check AMEIANOITE, by Pabllo Vittar with the participation of Gloria Grooveand Lili, by Liniker.
“I was very happy to receive the invitation to be one of the global ambassadors of the new Spotify GLOW program! It is very important that our LGBTQIAP+ community continues to shine and reach more and more prominent positions around the world. It is an honor to know that the my art and music inspire and contribute to this fight”, commented Pabllo Vittar.
“Being part of a project like this one by Spotify is very special. We are LGBTQIAP+ artists and we think about our lives and our daily lives in the movement of things, without putting ourselves in the boxes that we are always placed. To be able to be in GLOW is to turn on our headlights to may you all shine”added Liniker.
With support from the Creator Equity Fund – Spotify’s commitment to promoting equity in the audio space – GLOW joins sister programs such as EQUAL and Frequency. Read more on the For The Record blog.
