The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska gave an interview to one of the most famous American political observers, Farid Zakaria, on CNN.
He emphasized that he spoke to reporters before the Russian missile hit the high-rise on the Dnieper and before “the whole world heard the screams of the people under the rubble.” But he noted that even after that, the answer to the question of an American journalist whether the Russians can intimidate, destroy the Ukrainians has not changed.
“Having been out for almost a year, we can hold on even longer. Of course, no one wants this to last, we want it to end. But we can,” she said.
The Ukrainian president’s wife also noted that Ukrainians live under constant Russian attacks and that the main goal of Russian terrorism is intimidation.
“One of the goals they are pursuing by destroying the infrastructure of Ukraine is for people to say: “We are tired, we don’t want to sit in the dark, we are cold, our children are sick, please stop this, we agreed, just don’t bomb us.” They didn’t achieve that goal,” he said.
In addition, Zelenskaya said how Ukrainian children reacted to the war in Ukraine.
“Our life cannot be called normal. Even comparing what happened a year ago and what is now in Ukraine. The first months were a shock, because it was impossible to believe that such a terrible and unreasonable aggression is possible in the middle of Europe in the 21st century. Today, people are trying to continue to live, work, teach children, joke and live in the conditions that we all have today. But everyone in the land of Ukraine lives under constant attack by Russian rockets. Our children recognize the sound when a rocket flies, when a drone flies and when our air defense works. I am sure that the even one child in the world. Our children grow up too early, and it is perhaps the most difficult emotionally to see children with the eyes of an adult,” summed up the first lady.
