The deceased director, who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the first days of the war, is survived by his wife and nine-year-old daughter.
During the battles with the Russian invaders, the Ukrainian film editor Viktor Onisko, who worked on the films The Stronghold, Zakhar Berkut and Viddana, died. This was reported by the Dovzhenko-Center.
“An incredible loss for the film community and Ukraine. Eternal respect for the hero. Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends,” the message said.
The death of Viktor Onisko was confirmed by his wife Olga Birzul. According to him, the director is twice ahead.
“You are supposed to edit a film, but you are “mounted” the military reality as a company commander. Twice at zero – Kherson region and Donbass. Without any chance for a date. You are tired who was tired, but took care of your brothers. You worry about every loss. You said, that in war there is no greater torture than to inform the families of the dead. Now I feel it myself. My heart breaks when your warrior sobbed into the phone and swore to me that he had never known a better man and commander,” he wrote.
It was earlier reported that Ukrainian director Oleg Bobalo was killed in heavy fighting near Bakhmut.
