Haley Bieber recalled a spread of health fears last month, which she called “the scariest moment of my life” in a YouTube video she posted on Wednesday.
The model spoke about the hospital events in a clip called “Telling My Story”. She said they were having breakfast with her husband Justin Bieber when “all of a sudden he felt this weird feeling go from my shoulders to my fingers.”
It made “his fingers really numb and weird,” he said. When her husband noticed something wrong and asked her if she was feeling okay, she said that the right side of her face was falling and she suddenly could not speak.
“I immediately thought I had a stroke like a complete stroke,” the 25-year-old said.
Justin Bieber asked someone to call 911 and a doctor came and started taking care of the damaged model.
It was “really the scariest time of my life,” she said, adding that she was afraid she would have ongoing problems.
Once he got to the hospital and started taking tests, Bieber said doctors found a small blood clot in his brain. He was diagnosed with a transient ischemic attack, which the Mayo Clinic says he may have stroke-like symptoms.
Bieber later said doctors discovered a related problem called a patent hole, a prenatal hole between the chambers of the heart that cannot be closed after birth. Bieber said the opening of his heart was rated as the worst quality and he underwent surgery to successfully close it.
Bieber said his doctors thought the blood clot had entered his brain because of a hole in his heart. They have three theories as to why he had a blood clot.
“I’ve just started taking birth control pills, which I shouldn’t take because I still have migraines and I haven’t talked to my doctor about it yet,” Bieber said. “So sir, if you have a bad migraine and you plan to take birth control pills, be sure to tell your doctor. Because stroke is a potential side effect of birth control pills.
He continued: “The second is that I recently had a COVID. And then the third is that I recently took a very long flight. I flew to Paris in a very short time and came back”.
Bieber said the conditions created an “ideal storm” for the blood clot.
“I’m having a hard time telling this story,” he added. “But I felt it was important for me to share it, because it’s a public situation.”
In March, news broke about Bieber’s health concerns and the model quickly confirmed that he had recovered from the “small blood clot.”
Justin Bieber spoke about the disturbing incident at a show in Denver a few days later.
“Most of you probably know or have seen the news about my husband… he’s good, he’s good, he’s cool,” he said then. “But it’s bad … it’s really bad. But I know God is in the palm of his hand.
