The Brazilian Society of Pulmonology and Tisiology (SBPT) has already spoken out against the chances of future commercialization of electronic cigarettes, since the product is growing among young people and proves to be a threat to public health.
Organizing a petition on electronic cigarettes, Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) was another entity that has already spoken out against releasing the product. According to the coordinator of the SBPT Tobacco Commission, Paulo Correaa smoking rate is growing in Brazil, in addition to a false claim that the device does not cause health damage because it is water vapor.

While Anvisa will collect information until May 11, the agency’s position at the moment is as follows: “The marketing, import and advertising of all types of electronic smoking devices are prohibited in Brazil”.
