Former President Donald Trump has said he plans to hold a demonstration in front of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, along with his supporters.
“The secret services said I couldn’t go,” Trump told the Washington Post in an interview with the Mar-a-Lago Club. “I’ll be there in a minute.”
He also accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, both Democrats, of not doing enough to stop the violence that followed.
“I thought it was a shame and kept asking him why he wasn’t doing things.” said Trump. “Why is Nancy Pelosi doing nothing to us? And also the mayor of DC. Led by DC mayor and Nancy Pelosi.
“I hate to see him. “And I said,‘ We have to take care of this, ’and I thought they did it,” he added.
Trump rebuked his supporters for his lies at election rallies on Jan. 6 and then said he would join them on Pennsylvania Avenue all the way to the Capitol. Authorities continue to prosecute those who attacked the Capitol, including a former Virginia police officer who began trial this week. Trump himself was convicted of insurrection, but he was not charged or the others who may have spearheaded the plan.
