Various health authorities recommend five to ten servings of fruit and vegetables per day. Why is this so important?
In France, 5 daily servings of 80 grams are recommended. The ideal is to eat a “rainbow”, in other words, to distinguish fruits and vegetables according to their colors, because they provide additional nutrients, vitamins (C, B9, A), essential minerals, but also fiber. And first of all, they have a low energy density. in other words, they fill our stomachs, thus filling us up without providing too many calories. Thus, they enable us to reduce our consumption of particularly unhealthy foods, meat or processed products and sweets. All these properties make them protective factors against chronic diseases: obesity, cardiovascular problems, type 2 diabetes and some cancers.
Despite all the benefits and awareness campaigns, fruits and vegetables are under-consumed…
