How gene therapy could revolutionize cat sterilization

American and Canadian researchers report in this Tuesday’s journal NatureCommunications a completely innovative method of contraception for cats. Scientists have used gene therapy for the first time to prevent reproduction in domestic cats. The approach, which has so far been successfully tested on six females, could become a much less invasive alternative to current surgical sterilization.
