The official emphasized that now “a defensive-offensive operation is underway” and should not focus only on offensive actions.
The advance of Ukrainian forces was recorded in the Bakhmut area and in many other directions in the Donetsk region. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Anna Malyar, on the air of the national telethon on Tuesday, June 6.
“(Now, – ed.) we have a defensive-offensive operation. We have a set of steps, and I emphasize again: do not focus only on offensive actions. It is a set of different actions, including offensive ones. Now we also have success. We are talking about the edges around Bakhmut and other directions, which we can discuss in more detail later. There is an advance of our troops,” she said.
According to him, fierce fighting continues today, while the Russian invaders are trying in every possible way to stop the advance of Ukrainian forces.
The official also answered a clarifying question about the specific directions in which the Ukrainian soldiers advanced, in particular, he said that we are talking about the Donetsk region.
It should be noted that Malyar previously said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an offensive in several areas. He also published a photo from which one can understand that the city of Bakhmut is either already surrounded by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, or it is designated as a priority target for the Ukrainian army.
In addition, the RF Ministry of Defense said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine “launched a counter-offensive in five sectors of the front simultaneously.” In particular, we are talking about the South-Donetsk direction.
