Will Smith has revealed he was surprised after being “spit on” by a co-star while filming his latest film Emancipation.
During a conversation on Facebook Watch”Talk at the red tableThis week, with her three children Willow, 22, Jaden, 24, and Trey Smith, 30, the star recalled the awkward moment she “encountered” while filming with a among her colleagues – the stars who were left speechless.
“As the years went on, I got more and more stuck in these characters for longer periods of time,” explained the 54-year-old, discussing the intensity of his role in the period drama. “And it’s just the weight of this story, the weight of these experiences — the quality of these actors. Sharing that the actors got so into character that at one point an unnamed co-star spat in their faces during filming, Smith detailed the disturbing moment that occurred early in the shoot.

After recreating the off-script spat, the Oscar winner shared his over-the-top reaction at the red table, with his children bursting into laughter.
Smith added with a chuckle: “I was like, ‘Makeup!’ No, but it was like… I was like, ‘whoa,’ every actor on this set took it very, very seriously.”

He added that he hoped the backlash would not affect the film’s chances of success or the awards opportunities for the other people who worked on the film.
