What do we know so far about the Percy Jackson series?

One of the most anticipated Disney+ original series is “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”. The production will be a new adaptation of the book series of the same name written by Rick Riordan, where the initial idea is that each season corresponds to one of the volumes of the literary saga. History

The plot of the first season of the series will be focused on the events of the first book of the saga, “The Lightning Thief”. The official synopsis has already been released and is as follows: “The fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who is just beginning to come to terms with his supernatural powers when Zeus accuses him of stealing his thunderbolt. Now, Percy will need to cross America to find the weapon and restore order to Olympus.”

Direction

One of the factors that made Percy Jackson’s films not well accepted by history fans was the fact that the author, Rick Riordan, not having participated in the production of the feature films. But this time, things are very different.

riordan is very involved with the entire production of the series. He is one of the producers, and helped Jonathan E. Steinberg, the series’ showrunner, to write the pilot episode. The first episode will be directed by James Reel🇧🇷

Cast

A part of the cast of the series has already been announced. The main trio already has its actors defined: Walker Scobellwill be Percy Jackson, Leah Jeffries will play Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri will be Grover Underwood. Other young people who attend Camp Half-Blood also had their interpreters disclosed, such as Charlie Bushnell in the role of Luke Castellan and Dior Goodjohn like Clarisse La Rue, in addition to olivea morton as Nancy Bobofit, a girl from Percy’s “normal” life.

The adult cast also has some big names, such as Virginia Kull in the role of Sally, Percy’s mother, Glynn Turman like Chiron, Timm Sharp as Gabe, the protagonist’s stepfather, Megan Mulally like Mrs. Dodd, one of the three Furies, Jessica Parker Kennedy like Medusa and Suzanne Cryer like Echidna.

And some of the gods of Olympus already have their interpreters: Jason Mantzoukas will be Dionysus, the god of wine, Adam Copeland will be Ares, the god of war and Lin-Manuel Miranda will play Hermes, the messenger god. It was recently confirmed that Jay Duplass will be responsible for giving life to Hades, the god of the underworld, while Timothy Omundson will make Hephaestus, the god of metallurgy.

Launch

No release date has been set yet, but riordan wrote on his blog that fans will likely have to wait until 2024 to check out the series.

But Disney+ killed everyone’s curiosity a bit: during the D23 Expo, some scenes were shown where it was possible to see Camp Half-Blood, in addition to the performance of Scobell like Percy Jackson. A teaser for the production was also released. Check out!
