The superhero movie is scheduled for release in late 2022
“Batgirl”, the new adaptation of the comics from A.D, had been planned to debut directly on the HBO Max streaming service. However, the release of the feature film in theaters may not be impossible to happen.
As echoed in a Puck report (via ComicBook), the Warner Bros. executive, Toby Emmerich, would be considering taking the superheroine to the big screen due to a change in strategy suggested by the former CEO of WarnerMedia, Jason Kilarwhich due to the drop in the number of Netflix subscribers, is reviewing the company’s decisions.
Furthermore, the success of the recently released “Batman”, by Matt Reeves, in theaters, followed by the large number of accesses in streaming after the film was included in the HBO Max catalog may weigh in the future decision that will influence the future of the premiere of “Batgirl”.
It is worth remembering that the cast of the production has Brendan Fraser living the villain Firefly, JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Michael Keaton like Batman, Leslie Grace like Barbara Gordon and Ivory Aquino in the role of Alysia Yeoh, the heroine’s best friend.
“Batgirl” is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys Forever and Ms. Marvel), in addition to having the final script signed by Christina Hodson (Birds of prey). The film is scheduled to be released directly on the streaming platform HBO Max in late 2022.
