Taken over by a former manager, Andre, the iconic low-priced footwear brand, makes a remarkable comeback with inspired lines.
In just two years, François Feijou, Andre’s new director, was able to breathe new life into this little piece of French heritage, born in 1896. “I am a passionate shoemaker,” explains the CEO. When I joined the company in August 2020, the goal was clear: to revitalize the brand with the capital of the powerful sympathy that has animated the country’s high streets for more than a century. Andre is the know-how of its founders, shoemakers who knew how to make shoes at the right price.”

A story of know-how that began in Nancy 126 years ago, when Albert Levy joined forces with his namesake Jerome to start manufacturing shoes. Their faith. Fit the whole family. The sales network was born, but it is not yet called Andre. This name appeared only in 1904, when the partners bought two Parisian boutiques operating under this brand. The first name was very fashionable at the time and the sound appealed to them. By 1932, under the famous slogan of advertiser Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet, “The shoemaker who knows how to fit,” Andre dominated the French shoe market.
Shoe size: “Good value for money while being comfortable is the red thread of the Andre house, from the choice of leather to the lining and finishing,” declares Francois Feijou. The company has also returned to production. “Within two years, 95% of Andre’s output was brought back to Europe, more specifically Italy, Spain and Portugal. In Asia, only sports shoes are still designed, which require special production techniques. This proximity allows us to adapt our offer to the needs and wishes of our customers.”
