After a week Stallion Megan Tehis reaction to by Drake diss – in which he implied in a verse from her new joint album “Her Loss” with 21 Wild who lied about being killed by Tory Lanez July 2020: Grammy winner receives outpouring of support from influential figures.
The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium, which has previously collaborated with the Houston rapper on various causes, collaborated with prominent figures to write an open letter dedicated to her.
“You have had to endure harassment and public ridicule not only from that person, but also from others who choose to be with them,” the letter states. “You have been consistently clear about what happened to you, but instead of receiving widespread support, people who should have been watching your back chose to stay away.”
The consortium’s letter, which was shared Thursday, appears to address the “Circo Loco” lyrics and the online scrutiny Megan is facing from critics who accuse her of lying about the shooting.
Drake’s lyrics in the song appear to refer to Lanez’s alleged attack on Megan, rapping, “Thitch it’s about shots but she still a stallion.”
Back to the Twitter party, Megan he wrote, “Stop using my strong whore kicks!” among a series of tweets he posted the same day “Her Loss” was released.
“Since when is it nice to joke about murdered women!” he added, apparently referring to the song’s lyrics.
Signed by Congresswoman Maxine Waters, MeToo founder Tarana Burke, Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson, Tamika Mallory, Angela Rye and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, among other notable figures, the open letter shows support for the 27-year-old and condemns violence against women.
“We salute you for the courage it took to stand up for yourself in the court of public opinion, even though you shouldn’t have done so at all,” the letter said.
“We are raising our voices against those who have ignored this heinous example of violence against women and will soften them with our demands that society take seriously what is happening to black women. You’re not alone. You are believed, loved and supported,” he continued.
The letter of support reminded the “Plan B” rapper that he was “so cool” after backlash during his ongoing legal battle with Lanez, who claims he shot her at a Los Angeles party outside Kylie Jenner’s home .
“You have been so strong Megan, but this is not what we should ask and expect from you,” the letter reads. “You deserve space to cry and cry and heal as you see fit without worrying about being judged for having a human reaction to a personal tragedy.”
