A face-to-face edition of Hay Festival Arequipa is on its way, which has a list of writers who represent a significant part of storytelling and poetry nationally and internationally. From 3 to 6 November, White City It will get literary references from countries with different languages like Iceland, UK, Canada and more. A whole literary party in which Latin America and Peru are also the main characters.
So, for example, writers will come from Argentina. Claudia Pineiro D Gabriela Cabezon Camara, authors of The Cathedrals and The Adventures of Chinese Iron, respectively; from Colombia, poet Pieta Bonnet and literary revelation Vanessa Londono, acclaimed for her debut as a writer, Animal Siege; from Venezuela, writer living in Lima, Katy Serranowhich this year published The Pain of Blood.
Voices from Central and North America also arrive for one of the region’s most important literary festivals. Namely: Nicaraguan writer Gioconda Belli, author of novels, poems, memoirs and children’s literature; Mexican Gonzalo Celoriowho will present “Gossip of Memory”; and Canadian Rosemary Sullivan, one of the most famous biographers of our time.
Across the Atlantic they will be in Have Arequipa Festival 2022 British Nikita Lalvani, which recounts his novels The Gifted and You People; Icelandic writer and poet Andri Sner Magnason, which will tell about “Time and Water”; and Spanish Nuria Barrios (with his novel “Todo arde” and his essay on the translation of “La impostora”), Nando Lopez as well as Ignacio Martinez de Pizonwho will take part in the “Spanish-American Notebooks” talk.
Peruvian representation at Hay Festival Arequipa 2022
On behalf of Peru, the authors who will maintain the eighth edition Arequipa Festival with his latest work: Jeremiah Gamboawhere his novel Luminous Animals is presented; Daniel Alarconcreator of the Radio Ambulante podcast and recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Grant to cover literature and podcasts; Raphael Dammetwho will discuss the publishing phenomenon of The Inca Spy and some previews of his next novel.
They will also attend Gabriela Viner, who will present his book “Portrait of Waco”; Arequipeña Teresa Ruiz-Rosefor his novel “Estación delirio”; Enrique Planasfor his recent novel The Bond Girls; Gustavo Rodriguezwho will share “Thirty kilometers at midnight”; Katya Adaui, which will tell about “Who we are now”; and psychoanalyst Olga Montero with his literary debut Cortejo.
Same way Have Arequipa Festival 2022 will offer a gala concert of recommended books, which will be attended by several groups of guests. The first will feature Fernando Ampuero, Rafael Dumette, American writer and academic Sarah Churchwell, Cathy Serrano, Teresa Ruiz Rosas, Rosemary Sullivan and Colombian writer and cultural manager Velia Vidal.
Another choral event of the same type is the Poetry Gala, which will feature poems by Gioconda Belli, Nuria Barrios, Piedad Bonnett, Andri Snaer Magnason; Arequipa residents Augusto Carrasco, Catherine Medina Rondon and Alonso Ruiz Rosas, and Giovanna Pollarolo of Tacna
