Yuri Ignat analyzed the effectiveness of air defense in the fight against Iranian kamikaze drones and named the number of downed UAVs.
On the morning of October 17, the Ukrainian air defense system shot down 37 of the 43 kamikaze drones launched by the Russian invaders. This is what the spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, said in a briefing.
“I will tell you about those who were shot – 37 out of 43: 11 were shot in the south direction from 21:30 to 22:30, in the morning the enemy continued to attack, from 3:30 to 7 in the morning another 15 kamikaze drones were destroyed, and the third attack – direction of Kiev – another 11 UAVs were destroyed there,” the military said.
He noted that, according to various information, Russia fired more than 10 cruise missiles on the morning of October 17 at Ukrainian cities.
According to him, in the southern direction, where Iranian UAVs attack the most, 96 “shaheeds” and 4 “mujahideen” have been destroyed since the beginning of the use of Russian drones.
Ignat also commented on information about Russia’s purchase of new Iranian Arash-2 drones.
“All these Iranian works are available and they are being studied by experts. Of course, our intelligence is not sleeping either, of course there is data from our intelligence, and, obviously, measures will be taken to counter those this weapon. In any case, we must rely on the help of the West and Western partners”, he emphasized.
The military said it now had “a lot of promise.” He expressed the hope that this issue will be resolved soon, as there are serious challenges on the eve of winter.
As previously reported, Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar explained why it is impossible to photograph downed kamikaze drones.
