This Sunday hbo max the premiere of the ninth and penultimate episode of “House of the Dragon”, a prequel to the universe ‘Game of Thrones’which follows a period in the history of House Targaryen.

The chapter, entitled “Green Council”, began with Alicent Hightower upon learning of the death of her husband, King Viserys I. Though she was hurt by the news, the most important thing at that moment was to bring the information to the attention of the Council, where the plan for Prince Aegon’s coronation had been drawn up, after the Queen had misunderstood her husband’s last words.

Otto Hightower delays announcement King Viserys I enlist the support of various houses for the coronation of Prince Aegon. Meanwhile, Queen Alycent tries to enlist the support of Princess Rhaenys, who is being held in the castle. However, she denies that Viserys I changed his mind about his heir to the Iron Throne.

Alicente opposes Otto’s position, who seeks to kill Princess Rhaenyra and Daemon in order to prevent them from opposing Aegon’s coronation. Instead, she proposes a diplomatic solution to the issue, as she believes it would not be the will of King Viserys I.

Coronation

The Hightowers’ plans are complicated by the fact that Prince Aegon is nowhere to be found in the castle. Otto orders two members of the Royal Guard to search him throughout the city, while Alicent sends Sir Christon Cole and Prince Aymond to bring him.

Misaria, the “White Worm”, reports Otto Hightower about Aegon’s whereabouts, not without prior negotiation, and although the royal guards reach the prince first, Alycent’s emissaries manage to capture him. Afterwards, the queen confronts her father and informs him that she will proceed with her son’s coronation and that she will inform Rhaenyr of this as well.

Aegon II’s coronation is held in front of thousands at the top of the Dragon Pit. Meanwhile, Princess Rhaenys, who managed to escape the castle with the help of the royal guard, slipped through the ceremony and managed to get to where her dragon was hidden.

After Ægon II greets the people after the coronation, Rhaenys appears with a dragon and destroys part of the Dragon Pit. He approaches with the beast to the place where the royal family was, with the intention of attacking them; however, he does not and runs away from the place.
